Govt. of India approved a new program titled Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) in Higher Education aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs, internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India so as to augment the country’s existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India’s scientific and technological capacity to global excellence

Expert Database and National Researcher’s Network is the premier database of profiles of scientists and faculty members working in leading academic institutions and other R & D organizations in India. A persistent URL, username and password are issued to each expert facilitating them to edit and update their profile information. Data ingest dashboard was developed to import the profile information as the administrator.

RINS is web-based Research Information Management (RIM) service provided by the Centre to organize the research related information at the institute level. The portal facilitates the academic, R & D organizations and faculty members, scientists to collect, curate and showcase the scholarly communication activities and provide an opportunity to create the scholarly network. The IRINS is available as free software-as-a-service to the academic and R&D organizations in India. The IRINS supports the integration of existing research repository with open and commercial citation databases, scholarly publishers, etc. It is integrated with academic identity such as ORCID ID, Scopus ID, Research ID, Microsoft Academic ID, Google Scholar ID for ingesting the scholarly contributions.

The Centre is engaged to design and develop a dedicated portal for the scheme Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT). The portal provides all information related to PMMMNMTT such as about scheme, list of Centres and program schedule, etc. A dashboard is developed for each component such as LEAP, ARPIT, NRC, HRDC, TLC, FDC, SoE, etc.

The Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) is a catalytic programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India one with potentially far reaching impact. It is intended to enlarge and deepen the interface of India’s institutions of higher learning and globally recognised institutions of academic eminence. The faculty from highly rated institutions abroad will visit India, interact and partner with their counterparts and with students, and deliver specialised courses. Most importantly, the GIAN programme offers a basis and a platform for a long-term cooperation. University which are in top 200 in NIRF overall rankings and having at least NAAC ‘A’ grade (3.0 and above) can apply to join the GIAN Scheme.
