Department of Economics started in the Year 1983 and upgraded as UG department 2014. The department is actively indulged in supply feasible assistance to the nearest society in and around the college in their social and economic problems. The Department has Planning Forum and Economic Association to nurture economic concepts and techniques within a liberal environment.

The Economics Program helps students think critically about the economic issues they confront in their daily lives, and develop a commitment to be actively engaged with policy issues in local, national, and global communities.

Strong emphasis on students, incorporating independent learning experiences,extensive student interaction, and the maintenance of a friendly, supportive environment for all students, to prepare them to become accomplished citizens of critical thinking and independent analysis.

The name of the school is MGLC (Multi Grade Learning Centre).This is one of the important tribal settlement areas and has 40 families (Mannan community).The people are financially and socially backward. The programme was covered and telecast by Idukki vision on 11/08/2016. Phases of Action
